|Gregor Mendel Institute for Research in Genetics ( GMIRG ), is basically engaged in research in basic sciences including Genetics and Biology. Today being an era of Biotechnology , a special reference is laid on drugs research. So, it turned out that a set of experiments designed to evaluate some newer and simpler drug formulations yielded some wonderful results in the form of a drug formula that manipulated sex ratios in dairy animals with a near total success ratio. This miraculous achievement prompted us to carry out further schedules of experiments to verify this outcome and to ascertain certain other evaluations. This long series of experiments took nearly ten long and enthusiastic years to complete from 1991 to 2000 and by the end of year 2000, we were able to reach the levels of research up to ascertaining and establishing the active constituents involved. Hence, it became possible to file the drug paten on Dec.15, 2000. The patent of this drug was filed at New York on Dec 15, 2000 through the PCT route. The World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva, Switzerland ( WIPO) published this research on June, 22, 2002, thereby limiting the international phase to Aug., 2003. But fortunately enough, by the start of national phase, we were able to protect the patent rights in U.S.A., Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, India and Europe ( nearly 21 countries including U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands etc. ). The drug is already in the market under the trade name Aulprofem and steadily but firmly picking up sales.
